Keep Your Heart Strong and Healthy
In United States Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death. As of 2007, it is the leading cause of death in the United States, UK, Canada, killing one person every 34 seconds in the United States alone.
Every year millions of people suffer from this disease, and one of the main reasons behind it is an improper diet. Although you might know eating certain foods can increase your heart disease risk, it’s often tough to change your eating habits.
As such, it is very important for us to be aware of the correct diet to be followed in order to avoid being a victim of heart disease.
We need to cut down on foods having a high content of saturated and trans fat as they help in increasing the cholesterol level in our body which in turn leads to heart disease and a condition called as atherosclerosis which causes heart attack and strokes. In order to do this, we need to consume less solid fats such as butter, margarine, lard, bacon, gravy, cream sauce, non dairy creamers, cocoa butter, shortening, cookies, crackers and chips. We can use products like low fat yogurt and salsa as substitutes.
For cooking, we need to use mono saturated fats such as olive oil and canola oil instead of coconut, palm, cotton seed and palm-kernel oils.
We should get our daily proteins from low fat sources rather than high fat ones. Lean meat, poultry, fish, legumes such as peas, beans and lentils, skim or low fat milk, low fat yogurt, skinless poultry and soy beans and soy products are all excellent sources of proteins. We need to avoid full fat milk, organ meats, egg yolks, fatty meats, cold cuts, fried or canned meats and sausages.
Vegetables and fruits are a good source of vitamins and minerals and can help prevent cardiovascular diseases and as such we should learn to include a good amount of fruits and vegetables in our everyday diet. However, we should avoid vegetables with creamy sauces, fried or breaded vegetables and canned fruits. Whole grains also are a good source of fibers and nutrients and also help in regulating the heart pressure. We need to eat foods like whole wheat flour, whole wheat bread, brown rice, whole grain pasta , oatmeal and ground flaxseed to lower our cholesterol and avoid foods like muffins, waffles, corn bread, dough nuts, biscuits, quick breads, granola bars, cakes, pies, egg noodles, cakes and pies.
People who eat a lot of salt are prone to high blood pressure which is one of the symptoms of heart disease. The American Heart Association suggests that adults should eat less than 2,300 milligrams of salt on a daily basis. We need to reduce the amount of salt that we use in cooking and also stop eating canned or processed foods which contain a lot of salt. We should also not use tomato ketchups and sauces and substitute them with herbs, spices and reduced salt versions of condiments.
Thus, based on the above mentioned foods that need to be consumed for a healthy heart, we need to prepare a chart indicating the foods we need to consume on a daily basis and follow it properly. We should never eat more than required and exercise everyday to stay fit and have a healthy heart.
Eating a special diet called the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) eating plan also can help protect your heart. Following the DASH diet means eating foods that are low in fat, cholesterol and salt. The diet is rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy products that can help protect your heart. Legumes, low-fat sources of protein and certain types of fish can also reduce risk of heart disease.

Exercise Tips to Lose Belly Fat
When trying to lose belly fat the important thing to remember is to include whole body exercises and to rotate your workouts in order to continually provide a challenge for your body. Otherwise your body becomes acclimated and does not receive as much benefit as if you vary your workouts. So for example if you always jog 30 minutes every day, that will be less effective than if you do different types of workouts every few days. Here are the exercise tips for losing tummy fat:
Do 30 minutes of aerobic exercise daily: Brisk walking or jogging are great low cost exercises to do, but anything that you enjoy and that gets your heart rate up is fine. Shoot for at least 3-5 times per week at a minimum.
Do whole body workouts 2-3 times per week: Such as yoga (strenuous) or Pilates or a weight-lifting program. These types of exercises will build muscle, increase metabolism, and make losing fat easier.
Instead of Cruches
Try these army exercises that strengthen and tone your stomach as part of a whole body workout.
Hold your stomach muscles in during the day, whenever you can think of it. This will strengthen your abdominal girdle and create a flatter stomach.
Sit up straight and pull in your stomach muscles when sitting. You might want to create physical reminders to do this such as a post-it note at your desk or a loose rubber band around your wrist.
Stretching, Take breaks throughout the day to do back bending stretches that will stretch out your stomach muscles and keep them from becoming shortened which is not good for your stomach or your back.

Acne Cause, Treatment Tips for Beautiful Look
Acne Cause, Treatment Tips for Beautiful Look
Dear Friend,
I know how you feel. I used to suffer from chronic acne and there never seemed to be an end to my embarrassment caused by the painful condition.
Acne can negatively affect the overall quality of one’s whole life!
Acne occurs when hair follicles are clogged by dead skin cells. Hair follicles produce an oil called sebum. If this oil builds up in the clogged pore it becomes infected, and the hair follicle becomes inflamed. If the follicle bursts, the infected matter inside the pores spreads across the skin, infecting the surrounding area and creating new pimples.
Treatments for acne
Acne can and does cause enormous suffering for those who are affected by it, and needs to be treated as soon as possible. Early treatment should limit the severity of acne and prevent the physical and psychological scarring that can be caused by acne.
Available treatments for acne today include medicated cleansers, exfoliants, benzoyl peroxide, Retin A, topical antibiotics, physical treatments, oral antibiotics, intralesional corticosteroids, hormonal therapy, systemic corticosteroids, accutane, and natural treatment formulas.
Topical antibiotic: These kind of externally applied antibiotics are formulated as water-alcohol solutions, creamy lotion, gels, and ointment. They are very effective in mild-to-moderate acne and dry up pustules quickly.
I was caught in a daily battle with my skin problems. As I worked to cover up my blemishes and to cure them, more new ones would appear. Some young people can be vicious, and of course I was the victim of my fair share of the ‘zit’, ‘pimple’, and ‘oil’ jokes.
As adulthood came, the verbal harassment gave way to the silent judgment. And even still, young children would sometimes ask about the ‘bumps all over your face’.
I just wished I could trade in my skin for a new one, instead of wanting to hide away from the world. I tried every goop, spray, powder, and pill that looked like it would work.
My acne had totally disappeared in just days! Wow, you can just imagine how my self-esteem sky-rocketed!
In the back of my mind I still worried that the acne would some back, as it had always done. Would this be another fleeting moment of super-clear skin? Or could my simple new method give me clear skin forever?
The answer was, and is still, YES! My skin took on a new life, and it became healthy, radiant, and truly happy. I can tell you with absolute certainty “MY SKIN HAS REMAINED HEALTHY FROM THAT DAY, AND IT ALWAYS WILL!”
The method works so well, that I want to share it with you. It ended all the pain caused by acne, for me, and now for you. And it is so easy that anyone can do it.
The cosmetic industry loves selling us all sorts of goods to “fix” our acne. The unfortunate truth is that they can make more money from prolonging the acne than by curing it. The disgusting truth is that they knowingly sell products that are often in-effectual, and some are even carcinogenic!
I want to help you because I know the angst that you can feel, as I went through it every day. I truly understand how profoundly it can affect your life, having clear skin… or not.
I know the daily struggles and embarrassments it is causing in your life! I care about you and I am 100% confident that with my help you can become acne-free as I did!

Easing communication with elders
Easing communication with elders
As we age, our ability to communicate gets hindered by various afflictions. It is important to recognise and take active steps to ensure effective communication with seniors.
If we think about it, we will realise that much of what we do in our waking hours involves some sort of communication. Lack of proper communication could create complete chaos in our lives.
Generally, senior citizens are prone to deficient communication, as normal aging is often associated with a host of health-related problems. Reduced social interaction, caused by gradual changes in hearing ability and visual acuity, could lead to frustration or depression. However, communication problems that the elderly face on a day-to-day basis are generally underestimated.
Problems faced by seniors
The number of senior citizens in India stands at a ratio of 1:12. Over eight million people are aged above 80, over 25 million above 70 and 77 million above 60. Over 20 million of them are ill and require daily care. Statistics don’t lie, and these tell the tale of millions of aged Indian men and women who experience the agony of dependency after a lifetime of caring for their families.
To compound this agony, a majority of elders experience communication problems due to depleted hearing ability caused by changes to the peripheral sensory organ [cochlea]. Some of them suffer a double whammy due to age-related changes to cognitive skills. The combined loss [partial or total] of hearing and memory retention impacts communication. There are cases where a person cannot follow what is being said and suffers a communication breakdown in noisy surroundings. Reduced vision is another handicap.
Hearing impairment
Obviously, a person with impaired hearing will find it difficult to communicate as he will not be able to clearly hear what the other person is saying. It is the most common sensory impairment in adults above the age of 65. Because of the communication difficulties it creates, loss of hearing can lead to withdrawal from family, friends and society. Hearing loss is a disability that frequently goes unnoticed. The signs exist but have to be recognised.
Speaking louder than necessary in a conversation, constantly asking for words to be repeated, not being able to follow telephonic conversations, straining to hear with one ear, turning the television or radio up louder than usual, complaining that others are mumbling, all these are indications that the person is not able to hear clearly.
Aging makes an elderly person’s voice sometimes sound tremulous, weak, hoarse and higher- or lower-pitched than it was before. This makes it difficult for the listener to follow the speech and could result in the affected person withdrawing into a shell.
Visual problems
A general deterioration of vision is noticed in most elders. This will impact reading of books and newspapers, the popular pastime of most elderly persons.
Progressive disorders
Progressive diseases such as Parkinson's or Alzheimer's strike seniors, especially if they have suffered a stroke. Imagine sitting in front of the television and not being able to understand what you hear and see. Worse still, being unable to say what you want or even remember what you want to say. Alzheimer dementia patients generally experience difficulty in finding the right words to express themselves. Some of them have trouble understanding what others are saying.
Community factors
Elderly people crave for love and tender care. They want to be heard and respected. They want to be visible and play a constructive role in society. But since they are retired, they are often termed as "unproductive", as there is not much financial input expected from them. This gives rise to a social problem. “Who is going to take care of us?" is their constant worry.
How does one tackle such a situation?
Elders, don't despair if you think you have hearing loss. Consult your family doctor and ask for reference to an audiologist. A thorough hearing evaluation is important to determine the type and degree of hearing loss, and what treatment or hearing aid options may be available.
People all over the world have improved their lifestyle by using assistive devices such as hearing aids to improve the volume of sound in the particular pitches they miss hearing. Generally, a binaural system, a hearing aid in each ear, provides better directionality, better clarity and better ability to separate sounds in noise. As regards change in voice texture, this is natural and one should not feel discouraged to talk and communicate.
The Indian scenario was rosy till a few years back, when the joint family system was in vogue. Caring for elders was never a chore then. It was just part of day-to-day life. The advice and opinion of the elders was sought and respected.
However, with the slow disintegration of the joint family, elders are increasingly left to care for themselves or are being forced to ask for help from their children. Depending on their health condition, seniors can devise a few strategies to be independent, especially in decisions regarding readjustment due to disability.
Adult children and youngsters can work wonders by adopting a few strategies in dealing with their beloved parents and grandparents.
* Stand close to them and lean forward. This shows that you are interested in what they are saying.
* Maintain eye contact. This allows them to read your expression.
* Minimise noise in the background. If the music system or television is on, lower the volume so that they do not strain unnecessarily to hear you.
* You can act as an unnoticed watchdog. Make sure that their hearing aids and reading glasses are on when they are conversing.
* Slow down to their pace whenever you can. This makes them receive your message easily.
* If a family member is suffering from Alzheimer’s, learn to be patient. It is not their fault that they are unable to follow you or remember things. Try to communicate with them as often as you can. This will slow down the deterioration process.
* Never patronise. This puts them off and they will withdraw further into their shell.
* Show them you care by occasionally holding their hands or touching them.
Finally, it would be pertinent to note that there is no institution that can replace the family in caring for the old and infirm. They need your love and reassurance. Give it to them wholeheartedly.

How to Call Internationally For Free Using Internet
How to Call Internationally For Free Using Internet
International free calls has been an interesting subject, many blogs and websites have been trying to cover by suggesting stupid softwares, tips and ways. Spend hundreds of hours searching internet and you will find some crappy softwres which will enable you to call free anywhere in the world for few minutes. That's it. End of story. While we have another way of doing it in a proper and authentic way which is always successful. You can literally call anywhere free of charge. Atleast you won't get charged for call. However you need an internet connection at both sides. Let's say at one side there is a PC and at the other side there is mobile and you want to get connected and want to make call. Modern technologies have replaced the word 'call' with the 'voice chat' using 'VOIP'.
Consider you are in United states and your friend is in Canada, United Kingdom or Dubai or vice versa. You both should have mobile phone with internet access or one should have a PC with internet access and the other should have mobile with internet access. Mobile internet connection comes even in $3 per month in some countries. That's what you need.
You can use Skype, gTalk, MSN Messenger, Yahoo, ICQ etc.at your PC and your friend who has mobile with internet access can use Digsby, Nimbuzz or Fring and there are other many such free services he can use and get connected with his/her buddies at messengers. Now you can send a voice chat from PC to friend who is using Nimbuzz or Fring and he can get connected with you.
I mean you are calling your friend, but when there is internet between it, its VOIP and its really very very cheap than the standard call. You can even use mobile to mobile chats using these platforms and still you are at internet and using VOIP via these networks but calling your friend.
Use internet which is not costly at mobiles to call (Voice Chat) your friends and family and do not make calls locally and internationally from phones.

VoIP Services and PC to Phone Service
VoIP Services and PC to Phone Service
Including the world's first Top 100 ranking of VoIP services
Over the past five years it has become increasingly difficult to keep an overview of all the worldwide operating VoIP services or Broadband phone providers. New VoIP / Broadband phone VoIP services are launching almost on a weekly basis and it has become almost impossible to compare PC to Phone and Broadband Phone service providers without weeks and weeks of time consuming research. Each VoIP provider proclaims to have the best service and the cheapest local, long distance or international VoIP phone rates, but the differences are still substantial (up to 1000%), although in most cases the VoIP services are cheaper than most traditional telephone companies (PSTN). Choosing the right Voice over IP service for your specific need and calling pattern, especially if you make regular international calls can save you a small fortune every month.
To find and compare VoIP services on the Internet is already a mission on its own. A few of the larger, more established VoIP services (such as the Broadband phone companies like Intalk, Jive, or ITP ) are easy to find on hundreds of Internet sites. With their extensive marketing budgets and daily bombardment of press releases, they have established a market dominance in a short period of time. There are however hundreds of smaller and newer Voice over IP services with the same customer service and quality levels, even cheaper VoIP rates and monthly packages with unlimited VoIP calls.
Over the past two years a new group of VoIP service providers have been making their mark in the VoIP market. These providers are offering free VoIP calls to a wide range of destinations and are capturing a significant market share. Being the first VoIP service to offer these free calls, VoIP Buster is the best known, but every few months sister companies are launched to keep the momentum up, but all offer basically the same services. Some of the sister companies are VoipStunt, VoIPCheap, Netappel, SIP Discount, SparVoIP, Internetcalls, VoipDiscount and a few others - the larger more established Broadband phone services should take note.
We, at MyVoipProvider.com, have identified over 1400 international VoIP services (January 2008) for the residential and SOHO (small business) market and in due course each and every Broadband or Internet phone service will be included in our extensive VoIP rates database.

Nature's Sneaky Fat Bruners
Remember your mother's admonition about eating your greens. It's true that they're not much fun but they do burn fat. With some creativity you can incorporate these foods into your menu, lose weight and feel satisfied when finished eating. This would include cabbage, dandelion greens, Chinese cabbage, mustard and collard greens. The emphasis here is on changing your diet, not dieting. By focusing on what you eat as opposed to losing weight, you will naturally, effortlessly lose weight and feel better.
These are just some of the natural foods that are fat burners. There is another group of natural foods that are not fat burners. Citrus fruits are not negative calorie food burners. However, they perform a helpful function in weight loss programs. Citrus fruits aid your body in the release of fats. It also helps your body to process the fat more efficiently and quickly.
Coconuts and coconut oil is another natural food that is a fat burner. This natural food is helpful in many ways. It has been used by the women of India to treat weight problems, hair and skin conditions.
Fat burning natural foods are not hard to come by. Here are some examples that you can find in your super market or natural food store (if available, organic produce is preferable). These delicious root vegetables are just what you need if you are trying to lose weight. They are packed with fiber and nutrition. They include: carrots, parsnips, radishes, rutabagas and turnips. Turnips are a great substitute for potatoes.
You probably already use onions. Now you can also add chives, leeks, scallions and shallots. These are very tasty and versatile in your cooking.

Free Internet Phone Calls
Free Internet Phone Calls
Update: Things have changed a bit since this article was written in the 1990's. The dot com bubble burst and for a number of years there was no free PC to phone calling. However, now, not only can you call regular phones for free, you can also get a free number for incoming calls. Read this article about combining Skype and StanaPhone for one excellent and totally free phone service. The original article from the 90's follows:
Free calling from one PC to another on the Internet has been around for quite some time, but now you can make calls to standard telephones for free.
PC to PC calling has its share of drawbacks. The person you are calling not only needs to be online they need to be running the same Internet phone software you are. The sound quality of your call is dependent on your connection speed and the other person's connection speed. If the connection is slow or there is a lot of traffic at just one end it may be impossible to hold a conversation.
On the other hand when you use services that allow you to initiate your call from your PC but call standard telephones you are the only one that needs a special setup. Typically your connection will be the only limiting factor since the service provider will be using high speed connections at their end.
I'm not saying that you will always have high quality audio, but your chances are better, particularly if you have a cable or DSL connection or if your dialup ISP has plenty of capacity and a good connection to the Internet itself.

Brain Damaging Habits
Brain Damaging Habits
1. No Breakfast
People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level.
This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.
2. Overeating
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.
3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.
4. High Sugar consumption
Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing
malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.
5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air
decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain
efficiency.
6. Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest.. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the
death of brain cells.
7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered, increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and
decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.
8. Working your brain during illness
Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of
the brain as well as damage the brain.
9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may
cause brain shrinkage.
10. Talking Rarely

What Is High Blood Pressure?
What Is High Blood Pressure?
Blood pressure" is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries as the heart pumps out blood. If this pressure rises and stays high over time, it can damage the body in many ways.
Overview
About 1 in 3 adults in the United States has HBP. HBP itself usually has no symptoms. You can have it for years without knowing it. During this time, though, it can damage the heart, blood vessels, kidneys, and other parts of your body.
This is why knowing your blood pressure numbers is important, even when you're feeling fine. If your blood pressure is normal, you can work with your health care team to keep it that way. If your blood pressure is too high, you need treatment to prevent damage to your body's organs.
Blood Pressure Numbers
Blood pressure numbers include systolic (sis-TOL-ik) and diastolic (di-a-STOL-ik) pressures. Systolic blood pressure is the pressure when the heart beats while pumping blood. Diastolic blood pressure is the pressure when the heart is at rest between beats.
You will most often see blood pressure numbers written with the systolic number above or before the diastolic, such as 120/80 mmHg. (The mmHg is millimeters of mercury—the units used to measure blood pressure.)
The table below shows normal numbers for adults. It also shows which numbers put you at greater risk for health problems. Blood pressure tends to go up and down, even in people who have normal blood pressure. If your numbers stay above normal most of the time, you're at risk.
Categories for Blood Pressure Levels in Adults (in mmHg, or millimeters of mercury)
Category Systolic
(top number) Diastolic
(bottom number)
Normal Less than 120 And Less than 80
Prehypertension 120–139 Or 80–89
High blood pressure
Stage 1 140–159 Or 90–99
Stage 2 160 or higher Or 100 or higher
The ranges in the table apply to most adults (aged 18 and older) who don't have short-term serious illnesses.
All levels above 120/80 mmHg raise your risk, and the risk grows as blood pressure levels rise. "Prehypertension" means you're likely to end up with HBP, unless you take steps to prevent it.
If you're being treated for HBP and have repeat readings in the normal range, your blood pressure is under control. However, you still have the condition. You should see your doctor and stay on treatment to keep you blood pressure under control.
Your systolic and diastolic numbers may not be in the same blood pressure category. In this case, the more severe category is the one you're in. For example, if your systolic number is 160 and your diastolic number is 80, you have stage 2 HBP. If your systolic number is 120 and your diastolic number is 95, you have stage 1 HBP.
If you have diabetes or chronic kidney disease, HBP is defined as 130/80 mmHg or higher. HBP numbers also differ for children and teens. (For more information, see

Blood Groups, Blood Typing and Blood Transfusions
Experiments with blood transfusions, the transfer of blood or blood components into a person's blood stream, have been carried out for hundreds of years. Many patients have died and it was not until 1901, when the Austrian Karl Landsteiner discovered human blood groups, that blood transfusions became safer.
Mixing blood from two individuals can lead to blood clumping or agglutination. The clumped red cells can crack and cause toxic reactions. This can have fatal consequences. Karl Landsteiner discovered that blood clumping was an immunological reaction which occurs when the receiver of a blood transfusion has antibodies against the donor blood cells.
Karl Landsteiner's work made it possible to determine blood groups and thus paved the way for blood transfusions to be carried out safely. For this discovery he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1930.

Eye Cancer
Eye Cancer
Cancer of the eye is uncommon. It can affect the outer parts of the eye, such as the eyelid, which are made up of muscles, skin and nerves. If the cancer starts inside the eyeball it's called intraocular cancer. The most common intraocular cancers in adults are melanoma and lymphoma. The most common eye cancer in children is retinoblastoma, which starts in the cells of the retina. Cancer can also spread to the eye from other parts of the body.
Treatment for eye cancer varies by the type and by how advanced it is. It may include surgery, radiation therapy, freezing or heat therapy, or laser therapy.

A sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops from certain tissues, such as bone or muscle. There are 2 main types of sarcoma: osteosarcoma, which develops from bone, and soft tissue sarcomas. Soft tissue sarcomas can develop from soft tissues such as fat, muscle, nerves, fibrous tissues, blood vessels, or deep skin tissues. They can be found in any part of the body. Most of them develop in the arms or legs. They can also be found in the trunk, head and neck area, internal organs, and the area in back of the abdominal cavity (known as the retroperitoneum). Sarcomas are not common tumors, and most cancers are the type of tumors called carcinomas.
There are many types of soft tissue tumors, and not all of them are cancerous. When a tumor is not cancerous, it is called benign. When the term sarcoma appears in the name of a disease, it means the tumor is malignant (cancer). There are about 50 different types of soft tissue sarcomas (not all are listed here).

Smoking Increases and Risk for Bladder Cancer Increases Too
In the latest example of all good things eventually coming to an end, smoking is on the increase in America, just one year after the smoking rate in America hit an all-time low. Worst of all, the increased smoking rate brings with it an even greater bladder cancer risk.
Looking back, the year 2008 was historic. Think of it: For the first time since smoking was introduced in the United States, just 20 percent of the population smoked. But with the rate jumping to 21 percent in such a short span of time, this historic moment probably won`t be documented by historians or textbook writers.
Too bad. With all that we now know about the negative health effects of smoking, it`s amazing that people still smoke. Much of this has to do with the addictive nature of cigarettes and nicotine. But it`s also due to the estimated 1,000 people per day that decide to start smoking...despite everything we know about their effects on everything from our oral health to our bowel health.
Because smoking is so intricately tied to negative health effects, the increase has health officials flummoxed. Some theorize that the increase is due to a foolish belief that cigarettes aren`t the health hazard they once were because they`re not as prevalent in society as 20 and 30 years ago and because the FDA regulates tobacco.
But a recent study from the Journal of the National Cancer Institute illustrates why this assumption is so foolish.
Perhaps in an attempt to minimize the negative health effects of nicotine (aren`t they noble?), many cigarette makers have decreased the amount of nicotine and tar in their cigarettes. But this has done nothing to decrease the risk of bladder cancer. In fact, the risk for bladder cancer has increased five times over since the mid-1990s.
Researchers from the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Md., and several others from the New England area`s departments of health discovered this after conducting a population-based study of smokers in three of the six New England states between 2001 and 2004 (i.e., New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine). They then compared the rates of bladder cancer in this time period with those from two studies conducted between 1994 and 1998 and 1998 and 2001.
Despite the decrease in nicotine and tar content in most cigarettes today compared to yesteryear, researchers believe the increase in bladder cancer cases is likely due to how smokers are smoking cigarettes, where they`re inhaling deeper and more frequently to compensate for the decreased nicotine content. It could also be due to the type of nicotine used. The nicotine in cigarettes today is far more carcinogenic than it was in the 1950s, as it contains more naphthylamine than it did then.
The clear takeaway from this study is that cigarette smoking is still a public health concern and ought to be on public health officials` radar screen with regards to how they can get the smoking rate back down.
In the meantime, health officials should suggest smokers supplement their diet with key nutrients and vitamins that become depleted due to nicotine`s health effects. These include vitamin C with bioflavonoids (about 5,000 to 20,000 mg per day), at least 200 mg of Coenzyme Q10 (among other things, this helps to flush the body of the approximately 4,000 chemical toxins inhaled with each and every cigarette puff) and grape seed extract (studies on grape seed extract report that it has chemopreventive benefits; take the dosage as recommended on label

How to Speak Well and Confidently
How to Speak Well and Confidently
Are you very shy when it comes to new surroundings, such as starting a new class or moving to a new area? Sometimes, it is necessary to overcome your shyness and speak confidently. By doing this, it can help you not only to share your ideas properly to others, but also to learn communicating with others. Here are a few steps to consider when speaking with confidence.
Steps:
1. Learn how to have conversations with people. Your ideas or opinions may not always be accepted by others, but this is nothing unusual. Open your mouth, express your beliefs! This will improve your courage.
2. Don’t be afraid and speak loudly. If you speak in a low voice, not only will others not be able to hear what you say, but you will also portray a submissive demeanor, which suggests the opposite of a confident one.
3. Make eye contact when you speak. For one thing, it is polite for others. Also, eye contact will help others to listen to your thinking carefully.
4. Praise yourself everyday! This will promote your own confidence, which is important when you speak. With more confidence, people will take your thinking more seriously.
Tips
* Don’t be nervous when you make mistakes. Human error is far from being a new concept — nobody is perfect! It is normal for everyone to make mistakes. Just calm down and keep speaking bravely.
* Try and try again! This may be difficult for a shy person at first, but you need to force yourself to speak, and not seclude your thoughts. If you have some ideas, then try to speak out! Don’t just keep them in your head.
* If you have self confidence issues, try to think that you are the only one who has sound knowledge about the topic. Then go ahead and impart your knowledge to the audience in an effective way.
* Remember that there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Don’t portray an exaggerated amount of confidence, or you will come off as arrogant, believing that your ideas are better than the ideas of everyone else.

How to Have a Great Conversation with Anyone
How to Have a Great Conversation with Anyone
The art of conversation takes practice, and is not as hard as you might think. It will take some knowledge, practice, and patience, and you can learn to relax and enjoy a great conversation.
With these tips you will be well on your way to having a good, meaningful and entertaining conversation with anyone!
1. Make a good first impression. Smile, ask questions that require more than a yes/no answer, and really listen. Maintain eye contact and keep as friendly and polite as possible.
2. Listen. This is the most important part of any conversation. You might think a conversation is all about talking, but it will not go anywhere if the listener is too busy thinking of something to say next. Pay attention to what is being said. When you talk to the other person, injecting a thought or two, they will often not realize that it was they who did most of the talking, and you get the credit for being a good conversationalist - which of course, you are!
3. Find out what the other person is interested in. You can even do some research in advance when you know you will have an opportunity to talk with a specific person. Complimenting them is a great place to start. Everyone likes sincere compliments, and that can be a great ice-breaker.
4. Ask questions. What do they like to do? What sort of things have they done in their life? What is happening to them now? What did they do today or last weekend? Identify things about them that you might be interested in hearing about, and politely ask questions. Remember, there was a reason that you wanted to talk to them, so obviously there was something about them that you found interesting.
5. Forget yourself. Dale Carnegie once said, “It’s much easier to become interested in others than it is to convince them to be interested in you.” If you are too busy thinking about yourself, what you look like, or what the other person might be thinking, you will never be able to relax. Introduce yourself, shake hands, then forget yourself and focus on them instead.
6. Practice active listening skills. Part of listening is letting the other person know that you are listening. Make eye contact. Nod. Say “Yes,” “I see,” “That’s interesting,” or something similar to give them clues that you are paying attention and not thinking about something else - such as what you are going to say next.
7. Ask clarifying questions. If the topic seems to be one they are interested in, ask them to clarify what they think or feel about it. If they are talking about an occupation or activity you do not understand, take the opportunity to learn from them. Everyone loves having a chance to teach another willing and interested person about their hobby or subject of expertise.
8. Paraphrase back what you have heard, using your own words. This seems like an easy skill to learn, but takes some practice to master. Conversation happens in turns, each person taking a turn to listen and a turn to speak or to respond. It shows respect for the other person when you use your “speaking turn” to show you have been listening and not just to say something new. They then have a chance to correct your understanding, affirm it, or embellish on it.
9. Consider your response before disagreeing. If the point was not important, ignore it rather than risk appearing argumentative. If you consider it important then politely point out your difference of opinion. Do not disagree merely to set yourself apart, but remember these points:
* It is the differences in people–and their conversation–that make them interesting.
* Agreeing with everything can kill a conversation just as easily as disagreeing with everything.
* A person is interesting when they are different from you; a person is obnoxious when they can not agree with anything you say, or if they use the point to make themselves appear superior.
* Try to omit the word “but” from your conversation when disagreeing as this word often puts people on the defensive. Instead, try substituting the word “and”, it has less of an antagonistic effect.
10. Consider playing devil’s advocate - which requires care. If your conversation partner makes a point, you can keep the conversation going by bringing up the opposite point of view (introduce it with something like “I agree, and…”). If you overuse this technique, however, you could end up appearing disagreeable or even hostile.
11. Do not panic over lulls. This is a point where you could easily inject your thoughts into the discussion. If the topic seems to have run out, use the pause to think for a moment and identify another conversation topic or question to ask them. Did something they said remind you of something else you have heard, something that happened to you, or bring up a question or topic in your mind? Mention it and you’ll transition smoothly into further conversation!
12. Know when the conversation is over. Even the best conversations will eventually run out of steam or be ended by an interruption. Shake hands with the other person and be sure to tell them you enjoyed talking with them. Ending on a positive note will leave a good impression and likely bring them back later for more!
Warnings
* Choose carefully when asking personal questions. You do not want to venture into overly personal issues. Even if the other person might be willing to talk about it, you may end up learning things that you really do not want to know. You certainly do not want the other person to think afterward that you coerced them into revealing personal information.
* Be sincere! Compliments are great, but too much flattery is obvious and will reveal you as being insincere.
* Beware of topics that can be inflammatory - such as religion and politics - and don’t venture into them unless you know the person has roughly the same convictions as you, or the circumstances otherwise allow for pleasant discussion. Again, it’s fine to disagree and can be nice to talk about differences, but it can also be a quick step toward an argument.
* Try not to argue! You do not have to agree with everything someone says, but you do not have to tell them all about how you disagree. If you feel the need to explain an opposing viewpoint, express it simply and without putting the other person on the defensive. It is better to simply change the subject in a casual conversation than to get involved in an argument.
* Try not to nod or respond with “Yes” and “I see” so much. It might make the person think you are bored and sometimes it may seem like you are rushing them along. Never say anything hurtful or offensive to the other person, this may project a bad feeling between you.
* If it is a planned conversation, try listening to the news in case you run out of thing to say, it is always a good solution.
* Also try not to cut the person off mid-sentence. It seems disrespectful and it makes it seem like what you have to say is more important than what the other person has to say. Let the person finish their thoughts and then continue on with thoughts of your own.
